Functional Summary
The Senior Accountant (Fowlco Maritime & Project Services) is responsible for managing the financial accounting and reporting processes specific to Fowlco, with emphasis on contract accounting, revenue recognition, and cost allocation across business units. The role ensures accurate VAT compliance, audit readiness, and the integrity of financial data. The Senior Accountant will prepare weekly cash flow and KPI reporting, liaise with operations and contract managers to validate revenues and costs, and provide accurate, timely financial information for consolidation at the group level.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements for Fowlco in accordance with IFRS.
- Maintain completeness and accuracy of Fowlco’s general ledger.
- Prepare audit schedules (contract revenue reconciliations, AR aging, payables, intercompany schedules).
- Ensure appropriate recognition of provisions, impairments, and bad debts for Fowlco.
- Prepare and file VAT returns for Fowlco, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Contract & Revenue Recognition Accounting
- Manage revenue recognition for contracts and service agreements in line with IFRS 15.
- Monitor contract performance obligations and related cost allocations.
- Ensure accurate matching of revenues and costs by business unit and/or project.
- Liaise with contract and operations managers to validate billing, progress, and costs.
Cash Flow & KPI Reporting
- Prepare weekly Fowlco-specific cash flow reports.
- Maintain Fowlco’s 13-week rolling cash flow forecast.
- Prepare weekly KPI reporting (DSO, DPO, cash conversion cycle, contract margins, business unit variances).
- Provide accurate and timely data for consolidation at Group level.
Cost Allocation & Controls
- Implement and maintain cost allocation processes by business unit/service line.
- Ensure reconciliations (bank, AR/AP, intercompany balances) are performed accurately and timely.
- Adhere to internal control procedures and recommend improvements to strengthen financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Support ERP/technology adoption to streamline contract and revenue recognition processes.
Stakeholder Liaison
- Work closely with contract managers, project supervisors, and operations staff to ensure accurate capture of contract revenues and related costs.
- Provide the Financial Controller with accurate and reliable data for decision-making.
- Actively participate in financial reviews of major contracts or business units.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to contract accounting, logistics, or project-based services.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
- Experience with VAT compliance, AR/AP management, and audit preparation.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (QuickBooks, ERP) and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, with ability to liaise effectively with contract/operations staff.
- Demonstrated integrity and accountability in ensuring accuracy of financial data.
