We're hiring a Sales Clerk

The Sales Clerk is responsible for assisting customers, processing sales transactions, maintaining an organized and well-stocked sales floor, and providing excellent customer service. This role requires knowledge of hardware products, effective communication skills, and a customer-oriented attitude.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and professionally upon entry to the store.
  • Assist customers in locating and selecting merchandise, answering inquiries, and providing detailed product information.
  • Process transactions efficiently at the cash register, including handling cash, debit, and credit card payments accurately.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized, and visually appealing store environment by restocking shelves, arranging displays, and ensuring product availability.
  • Participate in inventory counts, noting discrepancies, and reporting to supervisors.
  • Receive and check incoming deliveries for accuracy and quality.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally, escalating complex issues to management as needed.
  • Recommend complementary products to customers to enhance sales.
  • Keep updated on new product arrivals, promotions, and pricing.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, particularly in regard to security and safety practices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1 year of experience in retail sales; previous experience in a hardware store is highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of hardware tools, equipment, and building materials.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong numerical skills and proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to lift moderate weight (up to 25 kg) for stocking and merchandising tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Reliability and flexibility in scheduling, including availability to work weekends and holidays.
