SAFETY & SECURITY COORDINATOR
Main Duties & Responsibilities include:
Coordinates and ensures that all aspects of the Safety and Security Systems and Policies are documented, implemented, measured, evaluated and continually improved.
Champions and drives the Safety Culture of the Company to ensure continuous improvement, high levels of engagement and compliance.
Works closely with Managers and Supervisors to ensure that all Safety and Security requirements are communicated to and adhered to by all staff.
Liaises with relevant parties and institutions to ensure receipt of the necessary updates and information pertaining to compliance.
Coordinates and conducts safety and security training and promotes awareness throughout Company.
Carries out risk assessments and implements targeted safety and occupational health and security programs.
Manages the security systems including monitoring and reliability in consultation with external suppliers.
Reviews Safety, Security and Environmental regulations and legislation and ensures the Company’s compliance.
Holds responsibility for the development, maintenance and distribution of the Company’s Safety Manual.
Investigates all reported accidents and violations of the safety code, in addition to conducting periodic safety inspections.
Schedules and chairs Safety Committee meetings to ensure that its recommendations are reviewed, and where possible implemented.
Liaises with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that at all times safety and security standards are adhered to, and that adequate supervision is in place during all potentially hazardous activities.
Maintains safety records and prepares safety reports.
Job Requirements:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or Science
At least five years experience in a similar capacity in a manufacturing or an industrial environment
Exceptional knowledge of Barbados regulations and legislation for the environment, safety and security.
Excellent analytical, presentation and communication skills
Must possess the leadership skills to build and promote a strong safety culture
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
