Saba is part of the Dutch Caribbean and has about 2000 inhabitants. The tranquil and beautiful island known as the Unspoiled Queen, rises from the ocean with an impressive 2,877 ft and is only 5 sq. miles wide. The medical care is supplied in the A.M. Edwards Medical Center in The Bottom, the capital of the island. The Saba Health Care Foundation provides the population of Saba with medical care via the clinic, ward, 24 hour emergency service, ambulance service, radiology, ultrasound, laboratory and home health. A group of visiting specialist holds monthly or bimonthly clinics at the Medical Center. The Saba Health Care Foundation provides a diversity of care in a unique situation. Our patients consist of local residents, medical students (and their spouses) mainly from North America attending the Saba University School of Medicine, and tourists visiting the island for leisure or business.
