Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our SME Business Banking team in the capacity of:

SME Business Banker

Support the bank’s overall strategic plan by soliciting and acquiring clients related to the targeted market of small and medium sized enterprises (SME).

Location: St. James

As a SME Business Banker, you will:

• Be responsible for SME client acquisition and meeting targets for growth in liabilities, growth in the number of accounts and credit applications.
• Advise prospects of the company’s products and services, inclusive of Credit offerings, as well as negotiate banking strategies terms.
• Build a strong commercial profile in the business community.
• Drive revenue and manage risk accordingly to reduce costs and increase efficiencies
• Review status of existing loans to ensure that they are kept from becoming delinquent and remedial action is promptly taken.
• Review the overdraft report daily to ensure that excesses are not created nor limits are not exceeded unless arrangements are previously made and approved by Credit Risk.
• Responsible for retention and growth of existing customer relationships and new business development through cross selling and referral sources.
• Advise where new product and service development is necessary.
• Manage and be responsible for a portfolio of SME clients.
• Ensure smooth and efficient process for account opening for new SME and related SME clients.
• Conduct presentations to prospective client groups.
• Manage resolution of client issues, escalating where appropriate.
• Prepare credit applications for prospects which include financial analysis and recommendation of terms, conditions, pricing and covenants within the framework of the credit policies and procedures of the bank.
• Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.

What do you need?

• First Degree in Management Studies, Finance, Economics or a related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
• At least one year experience in a business banking environment.
• Ability to engage with clients on both a reactive & proactive basis.
• Track record in credit management, regulatory and operational risk – beneficial.
• Formal training in sales and marketing.
• Strong selling & negotiating skills.
• Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
• Strong customer service skills
• Sound understanding of financial sector, banking instruments and the regulatory environment.
• Excellent public speaking and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Ability to understand and deal with customers’ individual needs and requirements.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
• High level of enthusiasm – proactive and self-disciplined.
