The Risk Analyst must have a keen eye for detail, strong tactical skills, the ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and an exceptional service orientation.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The Risk Analyst will support the Manager, Risk Management with identifying, assessing, measuring, monitoring and reporting on the company’s risk issues. He or she is expected to advise, opine and guide with respect to the appropriateness of strategies for enabling risk mitigation. Additionally, the incumbent is required to prepare yield curves, credit ratings, reviews and outlooks, support the coordination of security valuations and the calculation of risk metrics.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Core Risk Management Function
• Implement risk measurement metrics for the company including market, credit, liquidity and operational risks.
• Assist the Manager, Risk Management with the preparation of risk reports for internal and external meetings, including Board reporting purposes.
• Assist in the identification and assessment of risks that may interfere with the business objectives and operations.
• Maintain inventory of risks, mitigating action plans and controls across the business to proactively identify adverse trends.
• Maintain awareness of regional and international developments and innovations with a view to transferring best practices where possible.
2. Preparation of Yield Curves and Risk Premiums
• Prepare yield curves monthly and credit and corporate risk premiums on a quarterly basis.
3. Assist in coordinating Security Valuation Exercise
• Prepare input files for bond valuations.
• Perform the review and checks on derived bond prices.
4. Preparation of Credit Ratings, Reviews and Outlooks
• Prepare credit ratings, credit reviews and outlooks on holdings on an annual basis and to support IFRS requirements.
5. To perform any other job-related duties as assigned by the Manager, Risk Management.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related
• At least three (3) years of experience in a similar role with a minimum of two (2) years in the Investment Management Industry.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
