Sagicor Bank Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Credit Risk (Centralized Collateral & Securities) team in the capacity of:
Retail Securities Associate
(Grade 2)
Provide administrative support to the department by preparing and processing security documents.
Maintain custodial responsibilities for security documents in assigned portfolios at a level that will enhance the achievement of goals and objectives.
Location: Kingston
As a Retail Securities Associate, you will:
- Prepare and process mortgage transactions in keeping with the approved credit application and established Service Level Agreement and ensure all fees are collected.
- Review approved credit application and supporting documents.
- Verify all pre-disbursement condition(s) are included in the documentation, where applicable, in accordance with the approved credit application.
- Prepare security documentation required in keeping with the approved credit application and established Service Level Agreement and ensure all fees are collected.
- Perform necessary calculations and prepare documents for submission to Jamaica Mortgage Bank where the application of Mortgage Indemnity Insurance is required.
- Prepare requisition and other related documents to facilitate the internal stamping of the mortgage instrument and preparation of the cheques for submission to external counsel for the perfection of security documents.
- Prepare all relevant release documents for securities and letter to the relevant institutions to discharge the bank’s interest upon request in accordance with the bank’s policies procedures and Service Level Agreements.
- Review all executed security documentation to ensure that they are duly executed and in registrable form to prevent issues in perfecting the security package.
- Prepare contingent liabilities for assigned branch/unit.
- Process request for the preparation of bonds, guarantees and letters of undertakings.
- Prepare notice of termination letters.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly securities and disbursement management/regulatory reports for assigned portfolio.
- Exercise custodial responsibility for assigned keys.
- Monitor and retrieve security files as requested by Credit Risk, Special Loans/Collection Units, Account Managers, External/Internal Auditors.
- Monitor security files to ensure original documents and receipts are returned for safekeeping.
- Calculate and ensure collection of fees required for processing, stamping and registration of credit facilities and that the correct accounts are credited.
- Conduct research and provide information on security documents/files as required.
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance / Management Studies or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Experience in Banking and Financial Services and completion of paralegal studies would be an asset.
- Sound knowledge of computer software packages including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
- In-depth knowledge and training in security documentation and processing.
- Knowledge of established procedures for the execution/perfection of security documents.
- Knowledge of the bank’s policies and procedures.
- High degree of accuracy and detail oriented.
- High degree of confidentiality and flexibility.
- Ability to prioritize and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, independently in customer and team oriented environment.
- Effective communication skills both written and oral.
