Job Purpose
The Restaurant Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of all aspects related to the customers’ experience. This includes managing staff, maintaining quality standards, developing and implementing menus, and optimizing profitability. The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in hospitality management, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for delivering top-notch culinary experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:
Operational Management:
- Oversee and coordinate day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to quality standards.
- Monitor and manage inventory, ordering supplies, and controlling costs.
- Regularly review product quality and research new vendors.
- Estimate future needs for goods, kitchen utensils and cleaning products.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.
- Manage restaurant’s good image and suggest ways to improve it.
- Control operational costs and identify measures to cut waste
- Implement policies and protocols that will maintain future restaurant operations
- Manage staff scheduling, training, and development.
- Implement and maintain high levels of service and cleanliness.
- Recommend ways to reach a broader audience (e.g. discounts and social media ads)
Customer Service:
- Foster a customer-centric environment, ensuring exceptional experiences.
- Interact with guests, addressing concerns and ensuring a positive experience
- Address customer inquiries, feedback, and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Deliver superior service and maximize customer satisfaction
- Implement and uphold service standards to exceed customer expectations
- Develop and maintain relationships with regular patrons
Financial Management:
- Monitor and manage budgets, expenses, and financial performance.
- Optimize profitability through cost control and revenue generation.
- Assist in conducting regular financial reporting and analysis.
- Analyze financial reports and implement strategies to maximize profitability
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure accurate accounting and reporting
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and supervise all restaurant staff.
- Train new and current employees on proper customer service practices
- Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to improve productivity
- Organize and supervise shifts
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional development
Menu Planning and Implementation:
- Collaborate with chefs to create and update menus based on market trends and customer preferences.
- Ensure the consistent quality of food and beverage offerings as well as the presentation of dishes
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:
- BSc degree in Hospitality management, Business Administration, Culinary Arts or related field
- Proven work experience as a Restaurant Manager, Restaurant General Manager, Hospitality Manager or similar role
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven customer service experience as a manager
- Extensive food and beverage (F&B) knowledge, with ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, including front-of-house and back-of-house functions.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse team.
- Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and cost control.
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
