The Research Officer summarizes and presents analyses of specific initiatives and projects, keeps abreast of International Financial sector globally to keep on top of current developments within offshore jurisdictions, and requirements of international bodies such as OECD, Global Forum, FATF, CFATF.

Salary: JMD$3,501,526
Key Outputs:
- Feasibility study on proposed projects/initiatives;
- Statistical/market data to inform strategy;
- Monitor and evaluation systems for projects;
- Performance and impact assessments;
- Reports and briefs;
- Competitive analysis for identified products and markets; and
- Management presentations.
Performance Criteria:
- Accurate Reports/research papers prepared and submitted within specified timelines; and
- Support the organization's mission by developing, monitoring, modifying and promoting relevant policies through expert knowledge and research.
Job Responsibilities:
The incumbent is expected to perform a range of duties that are necessary to effectively support JIFSA. These include but are not limited to the following:
- Work along with Technical Legal Adviser to conceptualize and direct the development of research;
- Provide assistance and guidance for the preparation of briefs and materials being prepared;
- Conduct research and provide data on Jamaica's competitive position for products and services to be offered;
- Draft reports and briefs as required to support the work of JIFSA;
- Assist the Technical Legal Adviser in conducting feasibility studies on proposed projects/initiatives;
- Support the Technical Legal Adviser in summarizing and presenting the analysis of projects and initiatives; and
- Perform any other related functions assigned by the Technical Legal Adviser.
Key Competencies:
- Strong networking skills;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of programmes;
- Fluency in written and spoken English;
- Knowledge of International Financial Services Sector; and
- Strong research and reporting skills.
Qualification and Experience Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in management Finance, Economics or related discipline;
- Minimum three (3) years related experience inclusive of high-level research and writing;
- Knowledge of the International Financial Services sector;
- Strong networking skills;
- Excellent communication skills; and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
