RESEARCH OFFICER

COMMUNITY RENEWAL PROGRAMME (CRP) SECRETARIAT

 

Background

The Planning Institute of Jamaica is spearheading a collaborative process towards community renewal that will result in long-term stability, well-being and inclusiveness among and within violent and vulnerable communities in a manner consistent with the goals of Vision 2030. To this end, a Community Renewal Programme (CRP) has been developed and is being implemented in collaboration with Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies, communities, civil society and International Development Partners (IDPs).

 

The CRP now requires the services of a Research Officer to increase the capacity of the CRP to be able to collect, process, evaluate and disseminate data to its stakeholder, support the implementation of the CRP Monitoring and Evaluation system and the ongoing broad consultative process among stakeholders at the national and parish levels.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Undertake the collection, mining, processing and analysis of primary and secondary data from multiple sources as may be needed by the CRP and its stakeholders.
  • Assist with coordinating and conduct monitoring, evaluation, and research activities for the CRP and its stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update the CRP databases, website, and data sets to support the Monitoring and Evaluation Framework and Indices of the Programme.
  • Design and conduct/oversee research projects including focus group, community and agency level consultations as may be needed.
  • Interface with multiple institutions as needed to build and support mechanisms established among the agencies for information management and sharing

 

Qualification/ Experience/ Attributes/Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences with at least three years’ experience in a related field of work.  
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge and experience of social research methods and statistical techniques
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Competence in the use of statistical analysis software such as SPSS would be an asset
