Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited is seeking a suitable candidate to join our Research & Strategy team in the capacity of:
Research Analyst
Provide research reports to guide the revenue generating units of Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited, specifically, Wealth Management & Client Services, Capital Markets and Group Treasury & Asset Management.
Collate economic information from various government agencies and other sources to be used in the analysis and preparation of reports on the Jamaican and global economies.
Assist with the day-to-day management and preparation of reports for Sagicor Select Funds Limited.
**May include frequent work outside of normal business hours and frequent
travel to listed Companies’ annual general meetings and other market events. **
Location: Kingston
As Research Analyst, you will:
- Collate economic information from the various government agencies and other sources to be used in economic analysis on the Jamaican and global economies.
- Provide monthly economic reports on the Jamaican market to be shared with Sagicor Investments Jamaica Limited clients, Sagicor Life Jamaica Limited and risk committees.
- Collate information on the local and international markets for dissemination to clients.
- Provide updates on key market developments, company news/ analytical economic data.
- Determine feasibility of equity investments based on investment strategies e.g. value opportunity, dividend or growth opportunity.
- Monitor economic activities that would impact international equities.
- Conduct credit risk assessments on various sovereign and corporate bond issues.
- Assist the Research & Strategy Analyst with updating and monitoring fixed income recommended and held by clients.
- Assist in identifying and recommending suitable investments across global asset classes for Sagicor Investments’ clients and provide thorough analyses to support investment recommendations.
- Assist with providing research and analytical support to Wealth Management, Group Treasury and Asset Management and Capital Markets.
- Liaise with members of the Wealth Management & Client Services team to prepare investments portfolio proposals designed to meet client financial objectives and risk tolerances with the view to help grow assets under management and revenues.
- Provide independent analysis of new Capital Markets deals such as initial public offerings and private placements.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Funds including rebalancing and recommendation for asset purchase/ sale.
- Assist with the preparation of the Jamaica Stock Exchange’s quarterly reports on Fund performance within the stipulated timeframe.
- Provide monthly updates on the Funds’ performance to include local equity market.
- Assist with the preparation of presentations, on various topics, for communication with internal and external parties.
- Conduct presentations to internal & external parties as necessary.
- Assist with the preparation of business cases for potential new products, services and business opportunities.
- Perform other job-related duties assigned from time to time.
What do you need?
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or related discipline from a recognized tertiary institution.
- At least two (2) years’ working experience in quantitative analysis, investments, research, risk management, or strategy management.
- Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA) certification would be an asset.
- Ability to think critically and logically.
- Ability to carry out thorough analyses.
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Excellent communication skills and sound presentation skills.
- Effective time management skills.
