The Sales Representative is responsible for generating sales through the servicing of present and potential customers on a prescribed Journey Plan provided by T Geddes Grant (Distributors) Limited.

  1. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned territory.
  • Makes in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
    • Evaluate and service current customer accounts per pre-scheduled route
    • Manage and achieve monthly sales quotas/target
    • Maintain and update relevant customer information (contact tools on system)
    • Respond and follow up sales inquiries using ethical and appropriate methods
    • Ensure monthly collection targets are achieved in accordance with company standard.
    • Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and
    • information.
    • Communicate, liaise and negotiate internally and externally, to facilitate the development
    • of a good  customer relationship.
    • Manages time/activities to achieve sales and collections targets.
    • Follows up on new leads and referrals resulting from field activity.
    • Identify and expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints
    • Prepare bi-weekly report for submission the following Tuesday by 10:00 am.           
    • Communicate new product(s), service opportunities, competitive activities, and/or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate staff, e.g.,   Sales Supervisor, Sales Manager, Marketing Manager and Brand   Manager.
    • Co-ordinate activities with company staff (merchandising and promotional) to facilitate efficient execution of sales.
    • Communicate to Sales Manager any issues that may require additional support.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures on ordering (using designated tablet), credit control, goods return and customer collections.
    • Stay current with all company policies and procedures, new products, merchandizing efforts, brand updates and changes in the trade to enhance sales effort.
    • Participate in marketing events executed by the company in the trade.
    • Co-ordinate delivery schedule of products and services (merchandizing).
    • Maximize distribution of T Geddes Grant (Distributors) Ltd. range of products in assigned accounts.
    • Continuously update customer database for assigned route.
    • Ensures products are rotated on a First Date First Out (FDFO) basis.                                    

Occupational Health and Safety

  • Adhere to safety systems, policies, plans, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment;
  • Report workplace hazards to responsible personnel
  • Collaborate with responsible personnel to ensure your safety hazards that have been reported are resolved swiftly eliminate threats to mitigate against unsafe working conditions for you and team members.
  • Communicate, compile and submit reports on any accidents and incidents

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

Performance will be assessed by the degree of success achieved in meeting the objectives outlined above and demonstrating or executing the following:

  • Execute sales strategies to ensure target achievement. Please note your minimum acceptable
  • performance will be 80% of assigned target. Should your performance go below 80% for three (3) consecutive months or your overall achievement within a six (6) month period fall below 80% you will be placed on a PIP where your suitability for continued employment is dependent on a successful review throughout the period of the PIP.
  • Manage product shelf life to prevent bad goods write offs.
  • Major revenue generating accounts are astutely managed.
  • Customer relationship is constantly monitored and honed.
  • Dependability, initiative, good working relations and a positive attitude to work are displayed.
  • All sales procedures relating to invoicing and cash are correctly followed.
  • All required documentation is timely and correctly completed.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES

 

Education and Experience

  • Associate Degree/Diploma in  Marketing &/or Business Administration
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the sale of Pharmaceutical products.

 Competencies

  • Excellent Time Management, Customer Service Skills and analytical skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • An understanding of the company’s mission, vision, goals and its operating procedures.
  • Consistently exhibit required business ethics and customer service skills.
  • A high level of reliability and responsibility.
  • A reliable motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to function independently and handle a variety of responsibilities under pressure.

 WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Long hours standing and bending
  • Able to lift at least 60 pounds
  • Required to work beyond normal hours, including weekends to achieve deadlines.
