The incumbent is expected to provide timely and accurate reports to the Chief Financial Officer; ensure the external audit is completed on time and all relevant regulatory reporting is submitted within the stipulated time frame throughout the financial year.

POSITION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Work with Internal Audit and Auditors to ensure the external audit is completed in a timely manner
  • Provide audit schedules
  • Prepare Annual Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS and regulatory standards
  • Review and submit quarterly regulatory reporting forms to the regulators in all territories in which we operate.
  • Respond to queries from regulators on reports submitted
  • Review and prepare the monthly report for the CFO.
  • Review the Unearned Premium Calculations
  • Review Claims Outstanding schedule
  • Prepare and review relevant schedules for completion of BOD reports
  • Review calculation and analysis for quarterly tax payment
  • Review calculation of annual tax calculations provided by consultants
  • Prepare statutory calculations monthly for all territories
  • Review Investment Schedule monthly
  • Monitor statutory and regulatory requirements relating to investing activities
  • To respond to any ad hoc requests that may arise from the CFO or Regulators.
  • Manage time and attendance of staff members
  • Conduct performance evaluation
  • Set and monitor the achievement of SMART goals and initiatives within the Divisions.
  • Manage staff members in line with company policies and procedures
  • Create performance goals, training plans and professional development plans for staff members.
KEY TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the core principles of insurance and how this is applied on a day-to-day basis.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the range of insurance products and services available in the market .
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory requirements and how to meet these on a day-to-day basis. It is also about understanding the concept of operational risk and how this is controlled within organizations.
  • Knowledge of claims and underwriting process.
  • Knowledge of Beacon and the wider insurance market place and how this is applied on day-to-day basis.
KEY JOB SPECIFIC COMPENTENCIES:
  • High knowledge and understanding of financial transactions and how it is applied on a day-to-day basis.
  • High knowledge and understanding of financial reports such as statements and understanding of same.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of the set of programs which is required for the day to day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • ACCA qualified member or affiliate; or similar degree
  • Certificate in Supervisory Management
  • Minimum 7- 13 years Technical experience
  • Minimum 3-7 years Supervisory Experience (Grade I -III)
