RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF THE DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES OF THE REGISTRY
VACANCY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA):
REGISTRAR, CANCER REGISTRY
The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the day-to-day activities of the Registry.
Main Responsibilities:
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the Registry.
- Collaborates with the Director in obtaining optimum staffing through recruitment, and deal with performance appraisals, approval of leave of absences for staff and maintain equipment and facilities.Ensures that a system is in place to collect cancer data from all sources in Trinidad and Tobago.
- Establishes quality assurance measures for the processing of data-checking for duplications, for completeness and consistency of the information; confirm coding and accuracy of entries in the database.
- Ensures that the agreed backup information systems for routine use and disaster recovery are in place, known and used by staff.
- Replies to requests for statistical information from local, regional and international bodies, adhering to the rules of confidentiality employed by the Registry.Maintains links with Pathologists and media personnel to ensure data quality.
- Assists in the preparation of programmes and budget estimates.
- Collaborates with the Director to respond to research and training opportunities locally, regionally and internationally.
- Identifies training needs and support the Director and Senior Registry Officer in the implementation of suitable training for staff.Assists in the preparation of the Registry report(s).
- Maintains links with the Management Executive of the North Central Regional Health Authority for the smooth running of the Registry.Convenes regular meetings with the Registry staff.
- Adheres to the Rules of Confidentiality established by the Registry.
- Attends conferences and meetings outside of Trinidad and Tobago.
- Conducts external visits to areas outside of the Registry.
- Performs other related duties as directed by the organizational relationship.
Minimum Qualifications, Requirements and Experience:
- BSc in Nursing from Accredited Institution.
- Recognized training in cancer registration.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
- Basic computer literacy in Microsoft and knowledge and experience with Cancer Registry Systems.
- Knowledge and experience in coding diseases, using the International Classification of Diseases in Oncology (ICD-O-).
- Knowledge of cancers.
- Knowledge of public sector policies and procedures.
*Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed programme is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
