                                      REGIONAL SALES MANAGER (FMCG Sector)

Overview:

Our client is one of the leading manufacturers of FMCG products with an excellent client base across Barbados/Caribbean region, as well as a growing global distribution network With many products well established with the major/specialized retailers, they are seeking to consolidate their position as supplier of choice, leading to this exciting new opening for a proven professional to join the team based in Barbados. This role is an executive level reporting to the General Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sales and distribution strategies, plans and programmes to ensure that revenue and customer service targets are achieved.
  • Determine annual sales targets and district quotas consistent with established corporate goals and objectives.
  • Direct and control the utilization of human, financial and physical resources in optimizing sales performance.
  • Coordinate the preparation of divisional budget proposals and administer approved budgets.
  • Develop and determine sales and distribution projections, appraise actual performance and prepare required reports or studies.
  • Direct the development of market surveys, analyses and sales forecasts to inform strategic business plans and objectives.
  • Coordinate sales and distribution inputs for the preparation of the annual sales budget and administer approved budgets to ensure that planned targets are achieved.
  • Determine and recommend annual sales targets, set quotas for District Sales Managers and monitor district performance to facilitate the achievement of effective levels of productivity.
  • Coordinate the implementation of special events and promotions to facilitate sales and distribution strategy implementation.
  • Carry out trade visits to monitor sales performance, to identify implementation problems, issues and customer/consumer demands or preferences and initiate required corrective action.
  • Participate in the identification, development and promotion of new products for the company’s marketing and sales programme.
  • Prepare operational, informational and statistical reports for the sales and distribution function.
  • Investigate non routine customer and consumer issues or complaints and take appropriate corrective action required.
  • Ensure the maintenance of updated export price lists and records of local and export monthly sales.
  • Perform other related duties as required by the job function.
  • Supervise team members including Assistant Sales Managers, Operations Managers, Key Accounts Sales Managers and Administrative Assistants (Approx headcount of 40 across the region).
  • Liaise internally with divisional/departmental heads within the group and with marketing/sales representatives from industry, institutional and regulatory agencies locally, regionally and internationally.
  • Authorised to direct the implementation of the company’s short, medium and long term sales and distribution plans, programmes and promotions..
  • Determine and define forecasts, targets and quotas for District Sales.
  • Authorize to appraise and report on District performance.
  • Authorised to direct and control the utilization of the division’s human, financial and physical resources
  • Generate Monthly sales and distribution reports, Operational reports on the performance of the sales and distribution function and Divisional budget performance reports.

Desired Experience/Qualifications:

  • Graduate qualifications in Business Administration, Management Studies or Marketing together with at least ten years
  • Experience in a similar or related job function, five of which should have been at the middle or senior management level.
  • The incumbent should possess extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of the sales and distribution function.
  • Experience working for a major manufacturer/distributor would be an asset.
