REFRIGERATION ENGINEER

REQUIRED EDUCATION :

BSc in Engineering or related qualifications

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE

Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration systems

Industrial maintenance

Electrical and Mechanical knowledge

Electrical control systems PLC trouble shooting

Autocad

Inventory management

Occupational Health and Safety standards.

Environmental safety systems.

Labour Laws

Microsoft Office Suites.

5 Year supervisory or management experience in a similar position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

1. Responsible for planning, scheduling routine and preventative maintenance of freezers, machinery and equipment ensuring that work is effective, with  minimum disruption and inconvenience to the operation:

• Freezers
• Retail Store Cold Rooms and HVAC systems.
• Engine room, Inspecting for the cleanliness and safety. Including local and centralized fire extinguishing systems.
• Refrigeration equipment including record keeping of the cleaning schedule.
• HVAC Stores, parts and supplies, inventory control and purchase requisitions.
• CMMS System
• Refrigeration system for Compressor Room, Evaporators, Container Reefers and Truck Reefers.
• Renewable systems – Inverters, and solar system to maximum KWH production.

1. Check malfunctioning equipment and ascertain corrective actions required to restore to satisfactory operating conditions.
2. Monitor efficiency levels of machinery and equipment, warranty periods and determine usefulness.
3. Recommend for procurement suitable machinery/equipment when replacement is deemed necessary.
4. Participate in the hiring and management of contractors for special projects; audit work, approve service invoice and submit to accounts for payment. Ensure adherence to the Company’s Visitor’s policies.
5. Prepare monthly management reports.
6. Attend scheduled meetings and update on departmental matters.
7. Prepare weekly PM (preventative maintenance) schedules for general equipment.
8. Participate in screening applicants for replacement roles.
9. Conduct annual performance assessment of  subordinates, arrange training, provide mentorship and coaching to keep staff motivated and committed.
10. Work closely with the Refrigeration Engineering Manager, Engineering and maintenance Manager and other maintenance team members to ensure that the facilities are properly maintained to mitigate downtime.
11. Adhere to all Company Policies and procedures as well as safety, security and motor vehicle policy and procedure.
