About the Project

 

The SPARK Project is one of CHEC’s flagship infrastructure developments in Jamaica, focusing on sustainable construction, port expansion, and industrial development. The initiative aims to transform Kingston’s southern region into a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible economic hub.

 


 

Job Summary

 

The Quantity Surveyor will play a key role in managing project costs, preparing estimates, evaluating tenders, and ensuring that financial resources are used efficiently throughout all phases of the SPARK Project. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, construction cost knowledge, and experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.

 


 

Key Responsibilities

 

l Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender documents.

l Conduct cost analysis and monitor project budgets to ensure financial efficiency.

l Evaluate contractor and subcontractor quotations, claims, and variations.

l Manage procurement processes and ensure compliance with contractual terms.

l Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to control costs and forecast expenditures.

l Prepare monthly financial reports, valuations, and progress claims.

l Assist in contract administration and risk management related to project costs.

l Support the development of cost-saving initiatives and value engineering.

 

 


 

Qualifications & Experience

 

l Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

l Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in cost management or quantity surveying, preferably on large infrastructure or port projects.

l Proficiency in MS Excel, AutoCAD, and cost estimation software.

l Strong knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract.

l Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

l Membership in a professional body (e.g., RICS, JIQS) is an asset.
