The incumbent is responsible for directing and coordinating Quality Assurance (QA) activities to ensure that production processes and outputs comply with applicable food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Quality Assurance Supervisor

 The incumbent is responsible for directing and coordinating Quality Assurance (QA) activities to ensure that production processes and outputs comply with applicable food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The role involves data collection, analysis, reporting, continuous improvement, and the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF Food Safety Management System.

Responsibilities

  • Confer with management personnel to assist in establishing and maintaining production, quality, and food safety standards.
  • Collect, analyze, trend, and report quality and food safety data to ensure compliance with internal specifications, regulatory requirements, and customer standards.
  •  Prepare and review reports on product quality, food safety, and process performance.
  •  Ensure accurate and timely collection, compilation, and reporting of data related to production procedures and critical control points.
  • Coordinate and oversee the collection and preparation of product, environmental, and process samples for testing by independent laboratories at receiving, processing, and storage stages.
  •  Monitor, verify, and report product temperature controls throughout all production stages.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventive actions, and verify effectiveness.
  • Apply structured Root Cause Analysis tools to deviations, non-conformances, audit findings, and food safety incidents.
  •  Enforce company policies, food safety programs, and compliance with governmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect products, processes, equipment, and facilities to ensure compliance with SOPs, GMPs, HACCP plans, SQF Code requirements, and ISO 9001 (where applicable).
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the SQF Food Safety System in accordance with the current SQF Code.
  • Participate in SQF certification, surveillance, and recertification audits, including audit preparation, documentation control, and response to non-conformances.
  • Initiate, review, and update SOPs and quality standards in consultation with the Plant Manager, QMS Team, and QMS Manager.
  • Assist in conducting supplier audits and evaluating supplier compliance with food safety and quality requirements.
  • Assist in the verification of sanitation procedures and related monitoring programs.
  • Train, coach, and mentor team members to foster and sustain a strong culture of quality and food safety across operations.

 

Competencies & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences, Associate Degree in Agriculture, or an equivalent qualification.
  • Formal training and demonstrated knowledge in SQF Systems (implementation and maintenance), HACCP, GMP, and ISO Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis methodologies and corrective and preventive action management.
  • Supervisory or management training with experience leading QA teams.
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) within food and agricultural production environments.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory, customer, and certification requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to prepare, analyze, and present technical reports and data.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
