About the role: The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality at Tortuga. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance & Food Safety Lead and indirectly to the Head of Manufacturing, this position involves close collaboration with all levels of management and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assisting the QAFS Lead in managing Tortuga’s Quality and SQF HACCP programme by:
• Planning, presenting, and coordinating HACCP Team meetings and training.
• Maintaining relevant documentation and ensuring corrective actions through Root Cause Analysis.
• Monitoring facility practices, conducting audits, and performing quality tests.
• Support SQF HACCP training, customer complaints process, and quality deviations monitoring.
• Act as QAFS Proxy when necessary.
Assisting the QAFS Lead in managing Tortuga’s Quality Assurance program by:
• Establish and review processing specifications.
• Conduct quality analyses on products.
• Manage customer complaints, identifying continuous improvement projects.
• Ensuring all data is documented and records are up to date.
AEO Responsibilities:
• Participating in the company’s AEO supply chain certification programme by ensuring compliance with security requirements for incoming and outgoing shipments.
General Responsibilities:
• Embracing all aspects of the FS & QA programmes at Tortuga and promoting a FS & QA culture throughout the organization.
• Actively participating in guaranteeing the successful performance of Quality, HACCP, and SQF programs.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences – Food Science or Food Technology preferred.
• Training in HACCP, PCQA and Quality Assurance systems, a plus
