To ensure that properties are secured, regularized and maintained for the provision of optimum ecclesial use by the Archdiocese.

Main Responsibilities

  1. To ensure the Regularization of real property owned, leased or donated to the Archdiocese, in accordance with the protocols as laid out in the Property Manual, through the implementation of an effective Case/Project Management system that enables planning, monitoring and reporting on all outstanding matters. This includes the regularization of tenancies and cemeteries, the removal of illegal squatters and the establishment of “portfolios of work” for all external partners including attorneys, surveyors, valuators, state and government agencies and other consultants as required.
  1. To assist in the implementation of Policies and Procedures and start-up in parishes by providing sound advice on best practices for real property asset management. This includes leasing management and inventory reporting as established by the Legal and Property department, ensuring that there is full compliance with both Civil and Canon law.
  1. To assist in the review of legal documents including deeds, leases and wills relative to real property as required.
  1. To liaise with Property, Building, Restoration and Maintenance, and other departments of the Chancery, and convey advice/ guidance to Parishes/ Vicariates on property matters including maintenance and safety issues, in keeping with the Property Manual guidelines. 
  1. To submit comprehensive weekly work plans aimed at accomplishing the overall departmental goals in the management of its assets and liabilities and to provide concise and informative status reports on on-going cases on a monthly basis and at other times as requested.

Job Requirements

-        Education: A minimum of 5 GCE/CXC O levels or the equivalent; BSC Business

-        Training: Business/Real Estate Property Law related training will be an asset

-        Technical Skills: Computer Literacy- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Powe Point

-        Non-Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Team-Oriented
  • Highly Flexible; Ability to mobilize resources on very short notice
  • Willingness to learn on the job

Knowledge

-        Understanding of the Real Property Laws of Trinidad and Tobago/ Canon Law

Experience

-        At least 2 years’ experience in Real Estate Sales and property Management will be an asset.
