Project Coordinator

The St. John’s Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. (SJCCU) is an indigenous financial institution
which provides services in accounts, savings clubs, loans and other financial services. Its
mission is to enhance the quality of life of its members and their families by operating an
efficient, financially sound, and sustainable credit union that provides affordable and
innovative products and services. The SJCCU operates from its Headquarters on Lower All
Saints Road and its branch at Mandolin Place on Friars Hill Road.

 The SJCCU invites applications for the post of:  Project Coordinator (Contract)

 Job Summary

The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing a portfolio of short- and medium-term projects, ensuring the efficient maintenance and repair of the organization's facilities, equipment, and vehicles. This role involves planning and executing company projects, not limited to new construction, building maintenance, and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will effectively manage resources, timelines, and interdepartmental collaboration to ensure the successful completion of projects.

 Key Responsibilities:

  •  Manage and oversee all company projects, from inception to completion.
  • Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Ensure projects meet deadlines, quality standards, and are completed within budget.
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management on status, challenges, and milestones.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of company facilities, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all facilities.
  • Coordinate repairs, upgrades, and regular maintenance with staff, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ensure projects enhance the overall member experience and align with the credit union’s commitment to exceptional service.
  •  Assist with the procurement of materials, equipment, and services for construction projects.
  •  Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts, service agreements, and pricing to obtain the best value for the organization.
  • Track and report on maintenance budget spending.
  • Establish and enforce best practices for project and facility management to ensure consistency and enhanced performance.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

 Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Project Management, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are an asset.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in project coordination or project management, preferably in construction, facilities management, or operations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and overseeing building maintenance or construction projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and project management software.
  • Knowledge of building maintenance, construction processes, and safety regulations.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or outside normal working hours based on project requirements.
