ROLE PURPOSE
The Production & Technical Supervisor is responsible for hands on activity, planning, co-ordinating and oversight of production activities to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and in line with approved quality standards, production targets, and delivery requirements.
The role ensures production activities comply with applicable regulations, HACCP requirements, HSSEQ standards, and Company policies, and that production facilities and infrastructure are properly managed, coordinated, and documented to support safe and compliant operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Production Planning & Control
- Plan and manage production schedules in line with operational requirements.
- Monitor production output, quality, and efficiency against targets.
- Address production variances, delays, and operational issues.
2. Production Operations & Supervision
- Supervise production teams and daily production activities.
- Allocate labour, equipment, and materials to meet production requirements.
- Coordinate production activities with Warehouse and Inventory teams.
- Provide clear work instructions to production staff and monitor compliance.
3. Quality Control, HACCP & Food Safety
- Ensure in-process quality control checks are carried out during production.
- Ensure products meet approved quality, labelling, and food safety standards.
- Ensure full implementation and operational adherence to the Company’s HACCP plan, including monitoring of Critical Control Points (CCPs), verification activities, and corrective actions.
- Identify and report non-conforming products in accordance with Company procedures.
- Ensure production and quality records are accurately maintained.
- Ensure batch traceability, date coding, and labelling controls are consistently applied and documented.
4. HSSEQ, Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HSSEQ standards and Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements within the production environment.
- Enforce safe systems of work, PPE usage, contamination prevention measures, and environmental controls.
- Identify and escalate safety risks, incidents, near misses, or compliance breaches in a timely manner.
- Support audit readiness and regulatory inspections by maintaining structured and accessible compliance documentation.
5. Equipment, Engineering, Facilities & Infrastructure Oversight& Machine Oversight
- Oversee the condition and availability of production machinery and equipment.
- Ensure routine equipment checks and maintenance activities are carried out.
- Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance support as required.
- Ensure proper management, coordination and documentation of all production buildings and facilities, including structural integrity, utilities (water, electrical, drainage), ventilation, hygiene infrastructure, pest control interfaces, and environmental controls.
- Ensure facilities remain compliant with HACCP, HSSEQ, food safety, and regulatory standards at all times.
- Coordinate and document facility inspections, contractor works, service records, and corrective maintenance actions.
- Escalate material infrastructure or facility risks that may impact production continuity, safety, or product integrity.
6. Process Control & Improvement
- Support the implementation and adherence to production procedures and controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency and consistency.
- Ensure safe systems of work are followed within the production area.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective and preventative action (CAPA) implementation relating to production or compliance deviations.
7. Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain production, quality, and equipment records.
- Provide production reports and escalate operational issues as required.
- Provide structured reporting to the Managing Director on production performance, compliance status, equipment reliability, and facility condition.
REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Production Management, Engineering, Food Science, Industrial Technology, Operations Management or a related technical discipline.
- HACCP Certification or formal training in food safety systems (required).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Minimum of 2–3 years in a supervisory or senior production role.
- Demonstrated experience managing production teams, machinery oversight, and operational compliance.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements within Trinidad & Tobago.
- Experience participating in internal or external audits (food safety, quality, or regulatory).
- Experience coordinating contractors, maintenance activities, or facility-related works would be an asset.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong understanding of HACCP principles, Critical Control Point (CCP) monitoring, and corrective action processes.
- Knowledge of food labelling, traceability, batch control, and contamination prevention standards.
- Practical understanding of production planning, yield management, and operational efficiency controls.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, SOPs, and quality standards.
- Competence in equipment oversight, preventative maintenance coordination, and downtime analysis.
- Working knowledge of HSSEQ frameworks and safe systems of work.
- Ability to conduct structured root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
- Proficient in production reporting, documentation control, and record management.
- Strong coordination skills across Warehouse, Inventory, Procurement, and Finance interfaces.
- Basic data analysis capability (production output, variance tracking, performance metrics).
