Production Supervisor- Rendering Plant

The Production Supervisor performs complex skilled technical work overseeing the operations of a Rendering Plant at the Flagship Project.

The Production Supervisor performs complex skilled technical work overseeing the operations of a Rendering Plant at the Flagship Project. The duties include ensuring compliance with National regulations and safety requirements, scheduling and training personnel, preparing and maintaining reports and logs, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under limited supervision with continuous supervision over Rendering Plant Production Workers.

Key Accountabilities

• Supervising rendering plant production workers; assigns, directs, trains and inspects the work of direct reports; disciplines, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance; verifies staff time sheets and paid time off usage (sick, personal day, vacation)
• Ensuring compliance with operating permit requirements (NEPA & Public Health); analyses data to determine proper operating conditions
• Participating in the operations, maintenance, and repair of equipment by monitoring and adjusting plant processes during assigned shift; assists with startup and shutdown of equipment; makes minor emergency repairs
• Keeping logs of shift activities, checks operator log sheets, monitors operational reports, enters data into database; prepares reports for management and to comply with regulations.
• Conducts plant-wide area safety inspections and safety training sessions and investigates accidents.

• Completing records associated with team members numeration including time sheets, work schedules, end of contract schedule etc
• Completing timely request for tools specific to work areas
• Enforcing safety and sanitation regulations
• Providing motivation to team members to create a healthy work
• Collects samples of boiler chemistry; performs standard laboratory chemical and biological tests; adds, adjusts and replenishes chemicals as necessary

• Monitors and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, valves, and other equipment to meet changing operational conditions
• Meets with management for operations planning purposes and assists management in the preparation of budget and other planning
• Keeping abreast of changes in the field by attending classes, etc
• Completing daily quality checks
• Employing strategies to increase worker efficiency and production rates
• Ensuring that maintenance work orders/requisition are prepared and submitted as required
• Ensuring products meet expectation of government
• Using general maintenance tools
• Completing preventative maintenance

Demonstrated Knowledge Skills, Experience

• Tertiary level qualification in a related field (Engineering, Agriculture, Applied Sciences, etc.)
• Three years experience in a production environment

• Working knowledge of Operations management

• Mechanically and or electrically inclined

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skill
• Meticulous records maintenance skills

• Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Strong customer service orientation
• First Aid skills and/or certificates are considered assets
