The Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all manufacturing operations to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are achieved. The role manages production staff, coordinates resources, and ensures effective production planning, accurate system reporting, and continuous improvement within the production department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage daily and weekly production schedules.
  • Ensure production targets, efficiency, and output goals are achieved.
  • Monitor production performance and address operational issues or delays.
  • Supervise and lead production staff, supervisors, and line operators.
  • Manage shift scheduling to ensure adequate staffing and operational coverage.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and oversee technical training and development of production staff.
  • Coordinate closely with purchasing, warehouse, and quality departments to support production needs.
  • Oversee the use of the SAP system for production planning, inventory movements, and reporting.
  • Perform and oversee production-related data entry and maintain accurate system records.
  • Maintain production documentation, logs, and departmental administrative records.
  • Monitor raw material usage and implement measures to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Participate in and support stocktaking activities, ensuring accurate recording of production-related inventory and materials.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department to minimize unscheduled downtime and optimize equipment life.
  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards and specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety procedures and the Safety and Health at Work Act.
  • Investigate production issues and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Monitor production KPIs and prepare operational reports for management.
  • Identify opportunities to improve production processes, efficiency, and productivity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Production Management, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in food or consumer goods production.
  • Experience working with SAP or similar inventory management systems would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage staff, production processes, and administrative responsibilities effectively.
