PROCUREMENT OFFICER

 

Core Purpose

The Trinidad and Tobago Trade and Investment Promotion Agency Limited, trading as Global Trinidad and Tobago, invites suitably-qualified persons to apply for the position of Procurement Officer. The Procurement Officer supports the Senior Procurement Officer and participates in the execution of procurement and disposal programs. The incumbent is responsible for providing assistance and ensuring the timely acquisition of goods and services, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and collaborating with divisions within the Agency to identify and address procurement needs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports strategy and decision making by monitoring trends and performance indicators
  • Ensures the Agency’s compliance with National Procurement Legislation Procurement function
  • Supports the planning, organisation and coordinates the procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and services for the Agency.
  • Liaises with internal and external stakeholders
  • Prepares reports

 

Competencies Required

  • Substantial/ In-depth knowledge of the relevant laws and regulations, policies and procedures governing the procurement of supplies, equipment, materials and services of the Agency
  • Substantial knowledge of the public sector procurement process
  • Substantial/ In-depth knowledge of the procurement policies and procedures and international best practice
  • Substantial/ In-depth knowledge of the sources of supplies, equipment, materials and services, their availability and market prices and trends 
  • Substantial/ In-depth knowledge of stores management and inventory control  
  • Substantial/ In-depth ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. 
  • Substantial/ In-depth computer literacy skills
  • Substantial problem-solving skills
  • Applied/ Working knowledge of financial/accounting practices and procedures 
  • Applied/ Working knowledge of the principles and practices of Project Management 
  • Applied/ Working knowledge of the trade and investment landscape locally and internationally
  • Applied/ Working knowledge of current government policy impacting on economic growth and productivity
  • Applied/ Working ability to manage competing priorities
  • Applied/Working ability to effectively establish and maintain interpersonal working relationships with all levels of staff and various stakeholders.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Project Management or related field from a recognised University Or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing procurement duties or related tasks
