Process Operator I

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Operator I will function within the Production team as follows:

  • Support the coordination of all field operational activities maintaining a continuous overview of plant operation and performance during start up, shutdown, normal and abnormal plant conditions and shipping operations.
  • Operate safely and monitor assigned areas of plant to support achievement of production targets, yield objectives and product quality specifications at minimum cost as per best industry practices and standard operating conditions.
  • Facilitate the safe and efficient maintenance of plant by the effective support in the preparation of plant equipment for permitted work as a member of the Shift Team.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY FUNCTIONS:

The plant is divided into five broad areas of responsibility: Utilities and Off-site, Front End, Compressor House, Distillation/DME and DCS.

The Process Operator I will be required to attain the required knowledge and capability to competently perform the following duties:

  • Actively identifies and monitors work environment for process hazards and take steps to eliminate, isolate or minimize these hazards.
  • Responds to emergency scenarios related to spills, fires and medical cases.
  • Conducts routine monitoring of plant equipment in Field and report any abnormalities to Shift Supervisor.
  • Performs routine, start up, shutdown and emergency actions within Utilities and other Field areas of the plant according to the Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs and conduct routine operational activities as required for safe Product Loading.
  • Prepare equipment for safe handover of maintenance works under the Permit to Work System
  • Working knowledge related to quality of water treatment, environmental discharge, boiler and cooling water chemical programs and methanol production.
  • Assist to systemically troubleshoot abnormal process conditions or equipment anomalies to find corrective actions.

 

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

  • Diploma in Process Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Certificate in Process Plant Operations from a recognized University.
  • O’Level Chemistry will be an asset.
  • A minimum of two (2) years and a maximum of five (5) years Operations experience in a petrochemical environment, preferably in a methanol or ammonia facility.
