 VACANCY

 

Applications are invited for suitably qualified persons to fill the following position at the North-Central Regional Health Authority (NCRHA). 

PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN I

The incumbent will be responsible for diagnosing and treating persons attending the Health Centers within the Region and involves health promotion and disease prevention activities and is performed under the general supervision of the professional superior.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Implement plans and programmes for the development of primary care.
  • Implement health promotion activities such as counseling patients and lecturing community groups (this may involve visiting schools or community venues outside of the health facility).
  • Examine, diagnose and treat adults and children with acute and chronic illnesses attending the various clinical at the health facility.
  • Coordinate the work of and supervise junior medical officers in the diagnosis and treatment of persons.
  • Complete medical records for all persons treated.
  • Arrange referrals and/or transfers to secondary or tertiary facilities if necessary.
  • Accept medico-legal calls.
  • Perform any other related duties as directed by the organisational relationship.

Minimum Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Training as evidenced by the possession of a recognized medical degree and registration with the Medical Board of Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Diploma in Family Medicine or other Primary Care Related Postgraduate Degree.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of post-internship experience, preferably in a primary healthcare environment
  • Experience in the practice of preventative medicine and in child and maternal healthcare.
  • Previous supervisory experience will be an asset.

* Certificates acquired at foreign universities MUST be supported by certified transcripts as well as evidence that the completed program is accredited in Trinidad and Tobago.
