Provides specialist technical support across plant operations and maintenance activities on a contract basis, ensuring safe, reliable and compliant power station performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operations, Maintenance and Plant Performance - Provides technical support to ensure safe, reliable, efficient and cost-effective operation and maintenance of plant and equipment. Safely executes start-up and shut-down of generating units and ancillary equipment and performs switching operations within authorised limits. Produces daily work plans, conducts troubleshooting of operational systems, monitors plant performance and heat rate, and prepares technical reports and recommendations for improvement.

 

  • Reliability, Procedures and Commissioning - Supports the development, review and application of operating and maintenance procedures and contributes to commissioning activities. Contributes to the execution of the Predictive Maintenance Programme, including root cause analysis and data trending to identify and address recurring plant issues. Provides technical recommendations to support asset management and reliability improvement initiatives.

 

  • Planning, Projects and Systems Support - Interfaces with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain and HSE to support effective planning, scoping and execution of facilities mainenance activities, plant. Provides technical input to the procurement of goods and services and supports the use and enhancement of computer-based management systems related to plant operations and maintenance.

 

  • Compliance, Safety and Stakeholder Interface - Supports compliance with grid code and Power Purchase Agreement requirements, including reporting, declarations and conformance with dispatch instructions from T&TEC. Acts as a technical liaison between plant operations and T&TEC control. Demonstrates HSE leadership by ensuring compliance with Company safety, security and environmental policies and procedures and supporting emergency preparedness and response activities.

 

  • People, Financial and Reporting Support - Supports training and development activities in collaboration with line supervision, including identification of training needs and delivery of training. Provides technical input into staffing requirements, task coordination and performance feedback for personnel engaged on assigned activities. Supports effective use of assigned resources, including monitoring overtime utilisation and budgetary allocations. Prepares assigned technical reports and analyses aligned with corporate objectives.

  

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: (Minimum)

  • BSc. Mechanical/Electrical/Civil Engineering or equivalent from a well regognised, accredited institution.
  • BOETT registered.
  • Postgraduate studies will be an asset
  • Certification in Project Management from a well recognised and accredited institution
  • Eight (8) years in an Operations and Maintenance environment with at least one (1) year experience in an operations engineering role and two (2) years experience in a maintenance role (including but not limited to facilites) including the execution of at least one major maintenance outage.

 SPECIFIC SKILLS AND OR KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong technical expertise in power plant operations, major overhauls and complex projects, supported by advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage, influence and collaborate across functions.
  • Competent computer literacy and familiarity with cross-functional systems and processes beyond core engineering disciplines.
