What is the Opportunity?

Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.

Our portfolio features cutting-edge work on bridges, highways, tunnels, and airports to name a few! In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.

We are actively recruiting a Plant Mechanic to support our project in Antigua. Under general supervision, the Mechanic will be responsible for carrying out skilled journeyman level work. Work involves preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects within the trade, and troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairs of construction equipment.

 

What You’ll Do Here:

 

  • Ensure all Workplace Safety, Environmental Policies and Regulations are being adhered to.
  • Read diagrams/schematics and manufacturers repair manuals for work procedures.
  • Maintain and service a fleet of trucks and trailers.
  • Maintain and service a fleet of construction equipment.
  • Able to perform services on electrical, hydraulic, power train, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Operate a hoist and lift device to position machinery parts in a safe manner.
  • Inspect and examine vehicles and equipment.
  • Lubricate, service, diagnose, repair, assemble, and maintain vehicles and equipment.
  • Timely and accurate diagnosis and repair including computer connection/diagnosis with machine to identify fault codes.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to less experienced, or apprentice maintenance personnel.
  • Performing hands on maintenance and repairs of all equipment.
  • Diagnosing electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic troubles.
  • Making repairs per the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Utilize computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes.
  • Suggest positive changes to policy and procedures as required.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Perform service calls for emergency breakdowns.
  • Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.

  

 What You Bring to the Team:

  • Valid Class C (heavy duty vehicles) license in good standing is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in equipment and vehicle maintenance repairs.
  • Excellent mechanical knowledge.
