for providing engineering advice and supervision in the installation, maintenance, modification and overhaul of the 190MW Plant and equipment. providing appropriate technical solutions to plant operating problems and timely interventions to ensure high plant equipment performance is maintained.
Duties and responsibilities
Identifies and specifies materials, spare parts and tools required for maintenance activities. Verifies parts on receival for technical compliance and liaises with the stores and Purchasing Department as necessary.
Monitors the condition of boilers and turbines, generators, plant auxiliaries and systems.
Participates in planning of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance programmes. This includes preparing job schedules, manpower and technical requirements.
Writes job and machine specifications and provide related instructions to work crew.
Carries out routine testing of plant and equipment.
Develops designs for modification of mechanical plant and equipment. Ensure modifications are documented and drawings updated, where necessary.
Initiates procedures and techniques for effecting repairs/modification to plant and equipment.
Ensures that work is performed in accordance with safety rules and the permit to work system. Liaise with the Operations Department accordingly.
Prepares specifications and tender documents and participate in the evaluation of bids.
Monitors contractors to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to contractual obligations. Manage associated budgets.
Initiates analysis of equipment and system failure mode and develop timely solutions to eliminate the cause.
Verifies technical and other reports on a timely basis.
Participates on project teams in execution of specific activities.
Monitors plant incident reports and participate in preliminary investigations.
Assists in the station’s effort towards preservation of the environment.
