Planning and Projects Engineer

Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) manages a major fuel-efficient power plant in Trinidad and Tobago. The 720-megawatt (MW) TGU facility is a combined-cycle power plant which is owned by the National Investment Fund Holding Company Limited, the latter is a wholly owned entity of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. The plant is located at the Union Industrial Estate, La Brea and supported by a Corporate Office in Chaguanas.

Trinidad Generation Unlimited (TGU) invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following permanent position:

PLANNING AND PROJECTS ENGINEER

Position Purpose:
The Planning and Projects Engineer will lead the planning process of all assigned maintenance work and projects as assigned according to the company work management processes and procedures through the creation of quality work packages including procedures, materials, tools, resources and HSE analyses. 
To optimize the planning systems and conduct Engineering analyses and recommend and implement improvements as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Long Term Outage Plan to satisfy all Legal and Regulatory requirements and asset specific maintenance in accordance with the Asset Management system.
  • Plan all Outages in accordance with the Outage Planning process.
  • Participate and/or lead plant reliability exercises such as Criticality assessment, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Analysis and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) activities.
  • Develop and schedule PMs for critical equipment.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize the PM program 
  • Manage Preventative Maintenance program to achieve agreed targets.
  • Recommend Predictive Maintenance activities to improve plant reliability.
  • Complete Projects as assigned from Project Charter to Close out using standard Project Management methodologies.
  • Present the appropriate reports regarding the status of all Outage Planning and Projects.
  • Registration and management of contractors in accordance with the contractor management policy.
  • Planning, follow up and close out of all Technical Information Letter (TILs) or any Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) recommended modifications.
  • Maintaining electronic and hard copy records as necessary for compliance with the Asset Management system.
  • Audits of the MOC, TIL, and Contractor Management system.
  • Plan all assigned maintenance work activities according to quality standard work package requirements.
  • Review work requested and backlog work in Maximo according to their status and priority and liaise with maintenance to develop plans for maintaining backlog to the agreed KPI.
  • Participate in Planning and Scheduling Meetings and other planning related meetings as required.
    Ensure work packs are complete with job plans, resources, risk assessments, P&IDs and materials are available and staged before scheduling.
  • Audit jobs in progress to ensure planning accuracy.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Team Lead to support the function.
  • Perform other related duties to support the achievement of the company’s goals and objectives

    Qualifications and Experience
  • BSc in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a steam and gas turbine power plant environment (or related industry) three (3) of which must be specializing in planning and/or scheduling of maintenance work or projects.
  • Project management professional (PMP) certificate will be an asset.

A form of valid national identification must be included with your application.
