The Physician is responsible for projecting and integrating the Mission and Core Values of the organization as well as the Management Philosophy in the leadership within and outside of the Latin America and Caribbean Bureau and the Country Programs in Jamaica.
1. Examines patients to assess their health condition.
2. Conducts examinations to ill patients and evaluate symptoms to determine their condition.
3. Gives appropriate advice for healthy habits (diet, hygiene etc.) and preventative actions to promote overall health.
4. Orders various tests, analyses, and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition.
5. Maintains accurate and detailed medical records about each patient, including observations during examination.
6. Keeps record of patients according to AHF quality standards.
7. Analyzes reports and findings of tests and examination, and diagnoses condition.
8. Prescribes medications and drugs and provide comprehensive instructions for administration.
9. Refers patients to other physician specialists for specialized treatment.
10. Collaborates with other physicians and nurses to form a high performing medical team.
11. Follows the Health National Guidelines for STI and HIV treatment and care.
12. Functions as a liaison with the State STI/HIV/AIDS State Program to assure that treatment and care guidelines are followed.
13. Ensures up to date knowledge of local and national STI and HIV guidelines and work within them.
14. Ensures a working environment free of stigma and discrimination.
