Dispensing prescription medication, checking dosage and advising on the proper use of prescription and over-the-counter medicines and medical appliances.
Patient counseling on health matters including managing chronic illnesses and administering tests for these conditions.
Providing counseling and education to patients on medication, potential side effects, drug interactions, and storage requirements.
Liaising with doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers about prescriptions, medications and clinical conditions.
Maintaining accurate patient records.
Filing claims with the National Health Insurance Board as required.
Engaging with regulators and industry groups and staying current with the latest advancements in pharmaceuticals, clinical guidelines, and best practices.
Supervising pharmacy technicians, interns, and support staff as required.
Managing prescription inventory.
Preparing and providing reports to management as required.
Participate is quarterly inventory counting at all stores and distribution facilities, as required by the company.
Participating in community health awareness and promotional events.
Maintaining an empathetic and patient-centered approach while at all times performing duties and responsibilities with skill, care, professionalism, and courteousness.
Required Skills and Competencies
In-depth knowledge of pharmacology, drug interactions, and proper medication administration.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient counseling and teamwork with healthcare professionals.
Ability to train and manage people.
Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy and efficiency.
Ability to interpret and analyze prescriptions and medical charts.
Problem-solving skills and ability to make informed clinical decisions.
Proficiency with pharmacy information systems and technology.
Commitment to confidentiality and ethical practices.
The role may require standing for extended periods and working evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Proficiency in English is required; ability to speak and read Spanish and or French Creole is a strong asset
Minimum Education and Licensing Requirements
Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited school.
Currently registered and practicing as a licensed pharmacist.
Be qualified for licensure by the Turks & Caicos Islands Health Professionals Authority.
Be qualified to obtain a valid Turks & Caicos Islands Work Permit or otherwise be legally permitted to work within the TCI.
