KPMG CARICOM seeks to identify a talented and driven individual to join us as a Pension Fund Accountant in our Kingston office.

KPMG in Caricom is seeking to hire a talented and highly motivated Pension Fund Accountant to join our Finance & Administration Department in our Jamaica office.

The Pension Fund Accountant  will be responsible for implementing investment strategies, managing risks, ensuring compliance with regulations, and monitoring and reporting on KPMG’s pension fund performance.

Our ideal candidate will have substantial experience in fund management, with an excellent understanding of financial markets, and superior analytical skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Investment Management

  • Investment of pension contributions; enhance the investment performance
  • Implement appropriate new investment strategies that align with the pension fund’s financial goals
  • Monitor trends and economic conditions to gain in-depth understanding of the market and make informed investment decisions
  • Analyze performance of various investments and adjust strategies as necessary
  • Minimize risk while maximizing returns on investments
  • Manage relationships with investment brokers and other third parties

 

Fund Management

  • Oversee and manage two primary pension funds ; maintain books of accounts
  • Presents at Trustees meetings and serves as the liaison for administrative matters
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on investment strategies and fund performance to stakeholders, including pension fund trustees and beneficiaries

Regulatory Compliance

  • Supports the adherence, compliance and reporting requirements of the regulatory authorities (e.g. FSC, TAJ) and laws for the funds.
  • Prepares and provides information for internal and external auditors as required
  • Acts as a liaison between KPMG and pensioners

Fund Administration

  • Monitors the process for updating pension fund member records under the retirement solutions
  • Manages the processing of benefit distribution packages for terminated, deceased and retired members
  • Handles ongoing queries from members, members’ employers and pensioners.
  • Ensures annuity payments are processed for new and existing pensioners
  • Ensure the timely attention to errors, corrections, pension update requests etc. with the appropriate personnel and follow-up actions are taken to ensure their effective resolution


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from recognized university in Accounting, Finance
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant
  • At least four (4) years relevant work experience in Pension Fund Administration

KEY SKILLS:

  • Excellent knowledge of Pension Fund Administration, Pension Industry and the attendant regulations (Pensions Act and Regulations)
  • Working knowledge of the operation of Collective Investments Schemes.
  • Working knowledge of financial sector instruments, laws, regulations, ethics and professional jargon
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office Suite and relevant Accounting software
  • Functional knowledge of accounting standards
  • Exceptional organization, planning and administration skills
  • Outstanding problem solving and data analysis skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible and willing to travel
