Payroll Officer

A well-established company operating in a manufacturing and project-based environment is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Officer to join its Finance team.

This role is ideal for a payroll professional who is precise, deadline-driven, and experienced in managing end-to-end payroll processes within a structured, compliance-focused environment. 

About the Role

The Payroll Officer will manage the full payroll cycle, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining up-to-date payroll records in compliance with relevant regulations and company policies. The role also involves providing payroll-related support to employees and internal stakeholders, addressing queries and resolving discrepancies, as well as contributing to financial reporting, audit processes, and continuous improvements to payroll systems and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payroll for employees, including full-time staff and other categories of workers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with applicable labour laws and internal policies
  • Manage payroll adjustments such as overtime, bonuses, and allowances
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee changes and updates
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries and resolve discrepancies efficiently
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports to support finance and HR functions
  • Support audits by ensuring payroll documentation is complete and readily available
  • Assist with benefits administration and ensure proper payroll deductions
  • Track and update employee leave balances and ensure accurate payroll reflection
  • Support year-end payroll activities and reporting requirements
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and payroll information 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in payroll processing or a similar role
  • Experience managing payroll in a manufacturing, project-based, or fast-paced environment is an asset
  • Strong understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements

 Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency in payroll and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
