The Payroll Officer will be responsible for the preparation and processing of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payroll activities, in accordance with the organization’s policies and the statutory laws of Jamaica.

Supreme Ventures Services Limited, a subsidiary of Supreme Ventures Limited, is seeking to hire a Payroll Officer. The ideal individual will ensure the accurate and timely preparation and distribution of payments, salaries, and wages while  assisting  with the maintenance and upgrade of the payroll system as required, manage the payroll workload to meet operational requirements and manage and resolve issues relating to payroll production. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collect, compile, and enter payroll data for Weekly, Fortnightly and Monthly payrolls by established deadlines.
  • Review and verify source documents.
  • Investigate and correct payroll calculation discrepancies and errors.
  • Update payroll records with changes including deductions and salary movements.
  • Process new employees, terminations, transfers, and promotions.
  • Address employee's pay-related concerns and provide accurate payroll information.
  • Assist with the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end or ad-hoc reports.
  • Ensure all payroll information and records are stored in accordance with the company policy and statutory requirements.
  • Responsible for assigned subsidiaries weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll processes.
  • Support all internal and external audits related to payroll.

 QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or similar discipline
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) 
  • Proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software (ACCPAC or other)
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
  • Knowledge and application of statutory rules and laws
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Maintain good understanding of current payroll legislation, as well as the separation benefits and taxation matters.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective Communication skills - verbal and written.
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Proven customer service skills
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Planning and organizing skills
