Payment of all EIG employees (fortnight and monthly paid). Assists in various general ledger accounting functions, including but not limited to journals, bank reconciliations and month end and year end schedules and reconciliations.

JOB SUMMARY

Payroll: Payment of all EIG employees under Fortnightly and Monthly payroll registers in a timely and accurate manner, in keeping with unionized agreements, employment contracts, company policies and government legislation, inclusive of all statutory deductions and related remittances.

General Ledger: Assists in various general ledger accounting functions, including but not limited to journals, bank reconciliations and month end and year end schedules and reconciliations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accurately process wage payments of fortnightly paid employees and salaries for monthly paid staff for the Group.
  • Review HR provided Time and Attendance reports and all other HR payroll notifications and memos for accurate processing of payroll.
  • Prepare remittances to statutory and government bodies and other financial and related party institutions, ensuring payment is processed and sent out in the timing required to prevent the company incurring any related penalties and interest.
  • Prepares monthly PAYE reconciliation for annual TD4 preparation and annual TD4 slips for all staff.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll register to general ledger for each fortnightly and monthly payroll run, ensuring accurate reflection of the payroll register details in the company’s general ledger
  • Ensure that all payroll and financial documents are accurately filed and easily retrievable.
  • Exercise confidentiality and security of all financial and payroll records.
  • Assist in the preparation of required General Ledger entries.
  • Assist in preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparation of month end and year end reconciliations and schedules for the internal and annual external audit for EIG companies.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll experience, preferably in a manufacturing or unionized environment.
  • Pursuing ACCA certification or any equivalent degree.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems, tax regulations, and labour laws in Trinidad & Tobago (EZ Pay working knowledge is an asset)
  • Sound knowledge of the National Insurance Scheme; PAYE and Health Surcharge.
  • Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with union representatives and employees.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
