Massy Wood is recruiting for a Payroll Assistant to support administrative, technical, and support functions related to payroll processing.

 

Overview / Responsibilites

 

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for accurately inputting payroll data, organizing and maintaining payroll records, and providing relevant information to support payroll analysis and decision-making. The role ensures compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements while facilitating efficient payroll operations.

 

  • Analyze, prepare, and input payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established payroll procedures. Utilize the HRp5 automated system to generate precise and timely payroll processing.
  • Collect, review, and interpret employee benefit selections to determine payroll deductions, making necessary adjustments for over/under deductions.
  • Compile and verify payroll-related data to facilitate accurate payments to insurance providers and pension plans.
  • Organize, schedule, and prioritize deduction changes to meet payroll processing deadlines.
  • Communicate with employees and external agencies to resolve discrepancies and clarify payroll distributions.
  • Generate and maintain payroll-related spreadsheet reports; input data to ensure accurate reconciliation and balancing of reports.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of payroll deduction payments.
  • Assist in reconciling the general ledger with payroll reports to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Prepare periodic payroll, statistical, and operational reports as required.
  • Maintain payroll records, reports, and spreadsheets, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries in alignment with monthly closing timelines.
  • Address and resolve inquiries received through the Payroll Helpdesk and other payroll-related queries.
  • Conduct payroll analysis as needed to support financial and operational decision-making.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, including filing and copying documents, to support payroll operations.
  • Execute any additional duties related to payroll processing as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) or Associate of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Level I.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively prioritize tasks and perform efficiently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and the ability to make timely, well-informed decisions.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
  • Encourages and inspires teamwork while being receptive to constructive feedback.
  • Upholds the highest standards of confidentiality and integrity.
  • Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks.
  • Actively promotes and adheres to safety and security protocols.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Payroll Applications Software preferably HRp5.
  • Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
  • Preference will be given to national citizens or permanent residents of Trinidad & Tobago.
