Paralegal - 6 months

Job Purpose / Objective:

The incumbent will support the Legal department by performing a mix of legal, regulatory and administrative tasks.

 

Roles / Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update a litigation calendar to keep track of filing deadlines and hearing dates in relation to new and ongoing litigious matters.
  • Maintain database of key commercial contracts applicable to the subsidiary’s various assets and create a register to keep track of important dates and deliverables under said contracts.
  • Assist in the preparation of standard form contracts under the supervision of the Legal Manager.
  • Maintain a register of applicable laws and regulations governing the operations of the subsidiary and liaise with departments to monitor compliance with same.
  • Assist in the preparation of corporate secretarial documents such as resolutions and statutory filing forms.
  • Assist the Compliance Officer in maintaining the compliance register for the subsidiary.
  • Provide administrative support in the preparation of various documents such as letters, minutes and internal communications.
  • Provide support in any other projects or activities as may be required by the Company.

 

 

Job Specifications / Qualifications:

  • A completion certificate in paralegal studies from an accredited institution or completion of the first year of a Bachelor of Laws degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic legal environment with clients who need to quickly respond to business and regulatory demands
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work well in a diverse, multidisciplinary team environment.
