Salary Scale: $3,241,533.00-$3,853,164.00 per annum
Reporting to the Public Health Inspector III, the successful candidate will be expected to implement and enforce environmental health regulations and policies within a designated geographical location to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. The incumbent will also be expected to:
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct inspection of residential premises within an assigned sanitary district to assess environmental sanitation and make pertinent intervention
- Assist with monitoring and compliance inspections of food handling establishments, barber salons and hairdressing shops/beauty salons
- Conduct institutional inspections to ensure compliance with the Public Health Regulations
- Investigate complaints and make recommendations for corrective actions
- Discuss local public health problems with relevant authorities and supplies information and advice on public and private water supply, sewage and refuse disposal
- Participate in quarantine and port health activities
- Assist with meat and poultry inspections
- Conduct training of food handlers, barbers and hairdressers/beauty therapist
- Prepares and submits weekly and monthly reports and maintain relevant records
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Excellent time management & report writing skills
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of the Public Health Act & Regulations and other governing Legislation, Policies & Protocols
- Hands on experience with computer applications including Microsoft Word and Excel
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- B. Sc. Degree in Environmental Health
- Registration with the Council of Professions Supplementary to Medicine
