PUBLIC HEALTH& COMMUNITY NURSING MANAGER
The BVI Health Services Authority (a client-centered healthcare organization) invites qualified and professional applicants for the position of PUBLIC HEALTH & COMMUNITY NURSING MANAGER. The Public Health and Community Nursing Manager manages the development and implementation of the Public Health and Community-based Health Nursing Programmes to ensure that the standards of nursing care are maintained and the objectives of the Public Health and Community-based Services are achieved across the Territory.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to):
Administration
- Ensures the efficient administration of the Public Health and Community Nursing Services in keeping with the goals of the BVI Health Services Authority.
- Advises the Director of Primary Healthcare on matters related to the administration of the Public Health and Community Nursing Services.
- Coordinates and reviews the timely submission of quarterly and annual reports from Area Managers.
Human Resources
- Provide recommendations to the Director, Primary Healthcare on the recruitment selection, appointment, promotion, discipline or transfer of Nursing Staff.
- Coordinates and advises the Director, Primary Healthcare on all other Human Resource issues related to the Public Health and Community-based Nursing Services.
- Ensures that performance management appraisals are performed and submitted in a timely manner.
- Designs motivational strategies to enhance efficiency in the workplace.
- Coordinates activities to enhance the professional development of all categories of Nursing Staff.
Program Development
- In conjunction with the Director, Primary Healthcare and other Managers, plans, executes and monitors Public Health and Community-based Health Programmes, Policies and Procedures.
- Liaise with other Health Services Departments, Government Departments and private agencies to ensure success of the Public Health and Community-based Health Programmes.
- In conjunction with Senior Nursing Staff ensures maintenance of up-to-date Nursing policies and appropriate execution of Nursing processes in the Public/Community Health Services.
- Ensures adequate coverage of Community-based Health Services with nursing personnel according to the goals of the Department.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Masters’ Degree in Public Health.
- Masters’ Degree in Nursing Administration.
- Public Health Nurse.
- Registered Nurse/Midwife.
- At least (5) years’ experience in Public Health Nursing.
- At least (5) years’ supervisory experience.
Licenses and/or registrations
- Must be duly licensed in Country of Origin and be in good standing.
- Must be licensed in the British Virgin Islands.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- Knowledge of nursing policies and nursing procedures
- Knowledge of Public Health and Community Health programmes and procedures
- Knowledge of Public Health concepts
- Knowledge of application of evidence-based nursing practice
- Excellent organizational and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent leadership and motivational skills.
- Computer literacy is an essential requirement of the job.

SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
