The Operations/Quarry Manager has overall responsibility for the mining and processing operations at the Studley Park Enterprise Limited.
SUMMARY
The Operations/Quarry Manager has overall responsibility for the mining and processing operations at the Studley Park Enterprise Limited. This includes quarry-face operations, crushing operations, and the operation and maintenance of all plant and equipment, inclusive of plant upgrade. The Quarry Manager will assume the responsibilities of the position outlined in the Minerals Act Chapter 61:03.
The incumbent is charged with providing leadership and direction in the areas of quarrying operations, and equipment and plant maintenance and operation. This involves providing proactive guidance on the best practices, tools and preventive measures that should be adopted to ensure optimization of plant resources. The incumbent is also required to engage in continuous process analyses with significant focus on the improvement of plant operations.
Ensure that the quarry-face operations are undertaken optimally.
Develop blast designs for the quarry which ensures proper future access of equipment for optimal extraction of aggregate.
Ensure that the equipment and plant are operated optimally.
Develop, manage contracts as they relate to plant and equipment maintenance, and modification/upgrade.
Provide technical support for Maintenance personnel on preventative, predictive maintenance, and troubleshooting issues to assess the nature of equipment failures and assist in identifying resource requirements for corrective action.
Provide recommendations, using design and operational specifications, to verify conformity and performance of maintenance, repairs, and replacements on equipment so that standards are met, and downtime is minimized.
Provide input into the annual operating and capital budget projections.
Ensure collaboration between the Operations Unit and other Enterprise units to develop an integrated schedule that maximizes production without compromising asset integrity or corporate responsibility.
Develop, coordinate, and maintain integrated production plans, by compiling all relevant information and using appropriate tools / systems to ensure that the production maintenance planning deliverables are aligned with the Enterprise’s strategic and business plans.

Extensive knowledge of Hard-rock quarry-face operations
Extensive knowledge of Crushing Plant Operations
Sound understanding of maintenance planning and scheduling techniques.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Should be proactive in identifying process gaps and propose and implement improvements.
Proven experience in leading work and delivering results in a multi-disciplined team.
Must possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Must possess the ability to manage and continually improve own performance with a high degree of self-motivation.
Must possess excellent customer relations, communication and interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team
First degree in Engineering or a Science related to extractive industries; with local registration status (BOE or APPETT).
Training in aspects of Quarrying/Mining Operations.
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a hard-rock quarrying operations inclusive of crushing plant operations.
A minimum of ten (10) years’ post qualification experience, with at least eight (8) years as Team/Section/Unit lead.
Post graduate qualification in Management or a related field would be an asset.
