Position Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Operations Officer – Securities to join our team. This role ensures the timely settlement of counterparty trades (repos and bonds), prepares and allocates Bank of Jamaica (BOJ) Certificates of Deposit (CD) and Treasury Bill (T-Bill) tenders, and maintains up-to-date inventory records within the Central Securities Depository (CSD). The successful candidate will play a vital part in supporting the accuracy and efficiency of our financial operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Counterparty Repo Settlement & Confirmation
    • Settle counterparty repo and bond trades within prescribed timelines.
    • Prepare and dispatch trade confirmations.
    • Update the CSD database with transaction details.
  • BOJ Tenders (T-Bills & CDs)
    • Input bids received from Sales and Markets & Trading Departments.
    • Submit auction results to relevant internal teams.
    • Prepare and manage tender allocation files.
  • Securities Administration
    • Accurately enter trades into relevant databases (CSD and BFMS) within deadlines.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Experience & Competencies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ work experience in financial services, securities operations, or a related field.
  • Exposure to financial regulatory compliance, particularly Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) and Anti-Money Laundering requirements, is an asset.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • High attention to detail with a commitment to confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic trade databases.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical thinker with solid problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • General knowledge of financial services products and operations.
