Job Summary:

The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the day-to-day operational activities of Total Imports Supplies Limited.  This role ensures efficient management of inventory, warehousing, logistics, distribution, and customer fulfillment while maintaining high standards of service, cost control, and operational compliance.

 

The Operations Manager plays a critical leadership role in driving operational excellence, supporting financial transparency, and contributing to the company’s long-term growth strategy within the wholesale and distribution sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations across inventory control, warehousing, logistics, distribution and order fulfillment.
  • Ensure efficient workflow processes that support timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve operational systems, procedures and controls.
  • Manage inventory levels to minimize shortages, overstocking and losses.
  • Coordinate with procurement and suppliers to ensure timely replenishment of stock.
  • Monitor stock movement, storage, and handling to ensure product quality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Supervise delivery schedules, routing and transportation to ensure cost-effective and reliable distribution.
  • Monitor logistics performance and resolve delivery issues promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation, safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to operational staff, including warehouse, logistics and support teams.
  • Conduct performance monitoring, coaching and discipline in line with company policies.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators to identify areas for improvement and optimize business processes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor operational costs and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting related to operational activities.
  • Prepare and submit regular operational reports to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, company policies and industry standards.
  • Implement risk management practices to minimize operational disruptions, losses and liabilities.
  • Support audits, inspections, and internal controls related to operations.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Address operational issues impacting customers and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Ensure initial and ongoing training is provided to all operational staff, particularly those handling cleaning chemicals, hazardous substances, and related equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee health, safety and chemical handling training, including proper storage, usage, labelling, spill response, and disposal procedures.
  • Ensure all employees are trained on and comply with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company safety protocols.
  • Implement and maintain a training schedule for new hires and existing staff, including refresher training as required.
  • Collaborate with Group Human Resources Manager pertaining to maintaining accurate training records, attendance logs, certification documentation and  ensuring  training aligns with company policies, legal requirements, and best practices.
  • Perform any other related duties treasonably assigned in support of operational efficiency and business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a related field
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in operations management, preferably within wholesale, distribution, logistics of supply chain environments.
