Accountable for optimizing the productive capacity of all the plant and associated equipment through the safe, cost-effective and consistent achievement of pre-determined targets of different products of the highest quality.

Objective:

Reporting to the Commercial and Supply Chain Manage, the Operations Leader is accountable for optimizing the productive capacity of all the plant and associated equipment through the safe, cost-effective and consistent achievement of pre-determined targets of limestone, shale, clinker, cement and gypsum products of the highest quality.

 

Main Responsibilities include: 

  • Oversees the establishment of production quotas for targeted production period.
  • Determines optimal plant configuration for delivering the pre-determined production levels.
  • Oversees the establishment and implementation of suitable preventative and predictive maintenance programmes for the plant.
  • Reviews process and quality control parameters that are to be used in production runs and ensures that quality specifications are met.
  • Reviews and approves movements from internal stock of consumables or acquisitions to stock of consumables.
  • Prepares annual cost and capital budgets and reviews production costs against operations budget.
  • Ensures that plant is operated at optimum levels to achieve targeted cost per ton.
  • Oversees the energy management systems for the crusher, wet raw mills and cement mills.
  • Lead the process of the offloading of the bulk vessel of cement. Coordinate the discharge and lead the process with the most efficient and safety priorities.
  • Oversees the work order and operations information systems.

 

Required Education / Expertise / Skills: 

  • First Degree in an Engineering Discipline / Post-Graduate qualifications in Production Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in process operations
  • Experience in coordination and supervisory positions
  • Good project management skills and goal oriented
  • Adhered to tight deadlines
  • Great reporting and presentation skills
  • Health and Safety oriented
  • Teamwork
  • Schedule flexibility

 

Required Experience:

Minimum of 3-year experience in a senior production / operations capacity in a manufacturing environment.
