The Children's Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is seeking to recruit for the role of Operations Courier/ Driver, on contract.
The Operations Courier/ Driver of the Children’s Authority of Trinidad and Tobago plays a crucial role in supporting child care and protection services. This position is responsible for the secure transportation of children, ensuring their safety, care, and security while adhering to child protection policies. Additionally, the incumbent will transport Executive Managers, other Officers of the Authority, documents, goods, and equipment to various locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) CXC passes including English A and Mathematics.
- A valid Trinidad and Tobago Driver’s license (Class 3).
- Valid Defensive Driving Certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a driver.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed or required.
- Experience in providing professional and corporate driving services will be desirable.
Principal Accountabilities/ Key Functions:
Transport children safely to and from child support centres, community residences, schools, medical institutions, and other designated locations using the organization’s assigned vehicles.
- Understand and accommodate each child’s medical, emotional, and physical needs, ensuring respectful and dignified treatment in all interactions.
- Follow established child care welfare and child justice procedures during transportation.
- Maintain order among children during transit and ensure their safety, including assisting young children across roads.
- Respond to emergency calls for the transportation of staff and children, with or without police assistance.
- Provide reliable and timely transportation services for Executive Managers and other Officers of the Authority.
- Collect and deliver mail, packages, and other items from various agencies, maintaining precise logs and documentation of all transactions.
- Adhere to all emergency procedures and associated organizational policies in performing duties.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including fueling, and promptly report any accidents, injuries, or damage.
- Ensure the vehicle is clean, operational, and undergoes scheduled maintenance and tune-ups.
- Operate the vehicle in a safe and courteous manner, adhering to all traffic regulations.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Workplace Manager.
