Operation Technology Administrator (Generation)
The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited (BLPC) is seeking applications from suitably qualified professionals to fill the position of Operation Technology Administrator (Generation). Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design, administration, and ongoing support of Operational Technology systems used within BLPC’s power generation plants. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, security, availability, and performance of generation plant control systems and supporting OT infrastructure, which are critical to safe and continuous electricity production.
Job Duties:
- Design, implement, and maintain OT infrastructure supporting power generation operations, including servers, operating systems, industrial applications, and plant networks.
- Plan and execute hardware and software upgrades, patches, and maintenance for OT systems with minimal impact to generation operations.
- Create, develop, and maintain software manuals, technical documents and other reference material for online help systems and resources for internal use.
- Integrate and migrate development projects into production & development environments, while developing and maintaining system technical standards
- Monitor OT systems to ensure compliance with Cybersecurity Framework policies relating to network security services and endpoint security
- Coordinate emergency responses to any issues on OT systems.
- Monitor system and tune as required to maintain optimal performance using a multi-tiered, multi-server environment and coordinate performance analysis, recommendations, and improvements within the system.
- Coordinate with engineers, IT administrators, and operations staff to enforce change management, patching, and maintenance procedures for generation OT systems.
- Participate in high availability and disaster recovery testing of applications.
- Design, implement, and maintain Backup and Restoration plans for OT environment.
- Create reports for management and other users to assist in decision making throughout the organization.
- Document training, testing, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting for computer hardware and software solutions.
- Analyze changes in server and/or application software issued by the manufacturer or vendor.
- Determine the impact on business and existing systems or evaluates new software systems.
- Provide direction to technical personnel to assist with the troubleshooting of field devices and DCS systems.
- Tracks developments of OT systems and plans for obsolescence including making recommendations to management on actions required to be taken
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or a related field
- Network, Microsoft or Redhat Certification would be an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Server and Linux computer programming and scripting languages
- Experience in the electrical power sector working with OT systems would be an asset
- Three to five (3 – 5) years’ practical on-the-job training is required
