The incumbent will support the development and implementation of the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety Programme to enhance the safety culture within the organization.

 

CORE FUNCTION

The incumbent will support the development and implementation of the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety Programme to enhance the safety culture within the organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/MAJOR TASKS

  • Assists with the development and maintenance of the Company’s Safety, Health and Environment management system.
  • Conducts detailed risk assessments of all the Company’s operational and maintenance activities, using designated risk assessment tools.
  • Assists with the development of Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Standard Operating procedures for all high and medium risk activities within the organization.
  • Use approved safety investigative tools to lead investigation into all incidents and significant near miss events to ensure that root causes are identified and appropriate corrective actions are developed and implemented to prevent

recurrence.

  • Conduct frequent Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) inspection and audit within all areas of the company to detect non-conformance and to recommend the necessary improvement strategies.
  • Lead initiatives to ensure that a programme is developed and implemented to capture and report leading safety indicators.
  • Liaise with department supervisors to ensure that all safety programmes and procedures are fully enforced within the Company’s operations.
  • Assist in providing Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training within the organization.
  • Assist with the enhancement of the Company’s mobile equipment programme.
  • Develop and maintain a risk register for the Company’s activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Company’s behaviour based safety programme.

 

EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, OESH or equivalent.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience working in a similar role or an industrial environment.
  • Experience in conducting incident investigation within the work environment
  • Experience in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development and conducting OSH audits and inspections.
  • Working knowledge of the Factories Act and international best practices
  • Ability in using Risk Assessment tools.
  • Must be able to work on a shift basis.
  • Minimum three (3) years driving experience.
