OPERATOR TECHNICIAN (VEMCO)

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery.

JOB SUMMARY

The successful candidate will operate and maintain the required machine or machinery in a food-safe manner, which enables not only efficient and effective running of the machine but also is capable to clean, lubricate, perform simple adjustments, inspect for defects and repair while on shift expectations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• · To lead equipment failure troubleshooting efforts during production activities so as to ensure minimized unplanned downtime.
• · To ensure diligent daily monitoring and documentation of equipment conditions and recovery from equipment failure.
• · To ensure efficient and effective execution of corrective repairs so as to prevent recurrent downtime including coaching Operator Technicians.
• · Submit part list and part numbers on all assigned equipment to the Technical Team Leader
• · To quickly liaise with production leaders following assessments of failure and determination of time to resolve such that timely decisions may be made on the need to temporarily pursue an alternative process for continuation of the production run or reassign labour.
• · To ensure that all required reports are diligently completed, such that proper handover of information is achieved across shifts.
• · Perform COP and CIP operations as applicable according to defined SOPs and operational guidelines
• · Conduct changeovers and equipment set-up activities for scheduled production runs, so as to ensure adherence to defined procedures.
• · To proactively communicate any possible risks to the timely satisfaction of production schedules so that contingency plans can be developed.
• · Ensures special attention and concern is given to the quality of output of the machines e.g. Low / High Fill Weights, and product-leaking packages and that the knowledge, awareness and compliance with food safety and quality standards, behaviours and expectations especially HACCP/OPRP documentation and corrective action protocols in cases of process, product or material expectations and deviations.

Position Requirements: 

• 5 ‘O’ Levels or CXC passes and /or some technical tertiary level or vocational qualifications.
• MET, MEEET or EEET certification would be considered an asset.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a Maintenance or Engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
