The Port Authority of Jamaica wishes to recruit an OPERATIONS MANAGER in the Port Community System Department.

SALARY SCALE: $12,098,865.47 - $15,079,441.42 per annum.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for the coordination of the daily operations of the PCS Unit to ensure that tasks are executed which will lead to the successful implementation and sustainable operations of the Port Community System (PCS). The position requires assisting the PCS Manager in achieving both long-term and short-term strategic business goals. This involves efficiently overseeing the resources of the Unit, as well as fostering the development of processes and policies to ensure the smooth operation of ICT support services.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer sciences, Information Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, equivalent qualifications or similar ICT related disciplines.
  • At least eight (8) years’ related experience in information technology, of which four (4) should be in an ICT management post.
  • Experience in implementing ICT enterprise solutions and Vendor Management would be an asset.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Support the PCS Manager in the execution of the Unit’s long- and short-term strategic business objectives.
  • Plan and develop full-scale operational plans, schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Prepare and control operational and other budgets and budget proposals; recommend budget changes as required. 
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, presentations, requirements documentation; communicate with stakeholders in accordance with the implementation and operational plan.
  • Support business goals in collaboration with senior management of the PAJ, SAJ and Port Community stakeholders in accordance with defined project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an on-going basis; assess and determine needs and resources and make the necessary recommendations to achieve project goal.
  • Execute tasks relating to the successful on-going operations of the project and in accordance with the defined project objectives.
  • Review financial statements and data. Utilise financial data to improve profitability. Plan effective strategies for the financial well-being of the Unit.
  • Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as Helpdesk, training and IT.
  • Contract Management, including managing third party relations with the PCS Vendor, and any other service provider to the PCS Operator Department.
  • Any other tasks that are assigned by the management of the Authority.
